What is there to do……. PLENTY!!!

The Hawke’s Bay is full of little gems, some more well-known than others, and we’d love to share some of them with you.

Events fill the summer here in the Hawkes Bay, for the most up to date events listing check out Hawkes Bay Tourism's 'THE WHAT'S ON GUIDE', there may be something fabulous on while you are visiting, or something to make you stay longer!

From wineries to fine dining to great fish and chips, natural landscapes, the beach and the gannets, art trails and art deco, there is something for everyone.  If golf is your thing then the local region plays host to a large number of clubs with the newest being the spectacular Cape Kidnappers which looks across the best views that Hawkes Bay can offer!

Being ideally located in the middle of the three main centres of Napier, Hastings and Havelock North, the Cottages have a wealth of activities and events on their doorsteps and plenty of must do’s within a short 5-10 minute drive.

 

Tee off at the internationally acclaimed golf course at Cape Kidnappers, 41st in the world according to Golf Magazine 

Walk to the top of iconic Te Mata Peak for stunning views or paraglide from it’s summit! 

Bike between the wineries, cycle the pathwaysor mountain bike the many tracks and trails 

Find serenity in the award winning parks and gardens, many in the grounds of beautiful homesteads

Check out the worlds largest mainland gannet colony 

Try the scrumptious tastings of locally made cheese at Hohepa and Origin Earth or try out the cheese larder at Sileni for the ultimate in cheese tastings from NZ and around the world.

Visit Arataki Honey and taste the multitude of different varieties of honey they have on offer.. they are the biggest beekeeping operation in the Southern Hemisphere.

Enjoy a wet and wild adventure at the water theme park, Splash Planet 

Follow the Art Trail to over 50 art galleries and artists studios across the Hawkes Bay region.  You will find public artwork on display adorning the streets of Hastings City. And a must is a walk around the Seas Walls exhibition in Napier, where artists mix street art with an environmental message.

Visit over 65 wineries in the Hastings District and on the increase are boutique beer and cider houses opening up.

Immerse yourself in the local delicacies at the Hawkes Bay Farmers Market every Sunday in Hastings, one of the best markets in the country.

Discover the amazing Art Deco buildings, and the history of the 1931 earthquake which resulted on the inner city of Napier being devastated, on a walking tour of the Napier city streets. 

Visit the National Aquarium of New Zealand in Napier. 

Fancy trialling some locally brewed cider and beer, then one of our favourite places to go is the fantastic Filter Room , where their brews are produced on site… twelve boutique beers/ciders in their range.

Food, food, food, the Hawkes Bay is renowned for its fantastic produce…. There are so many great restaurants… Craggy Range , Pacifica , Mission EstateElephant HillFarmers Market , who each pride themselves on using fresh, seasonal and local produce.
